CHARITY | Just as our legendary namesake was known for his dedication to community service as both a special constable and Vancouver’s first official lifeguard over a century ago, we strive to carry on Joe’s tradition by showing our appreciation to the community that has supported us since 1985. To date we have lent our support in time, money and services to help raise $900,000 for charitable organizations. Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House aims to raise $50,000 annually for local causes and currently supports the following charities: | | |
Vancouver Native Health Society | | Established in 1991, Vancouver Native Health Society (VNHS) delivers medical, counseling and social services, with an emphasis on providing care to the Aboriginal community. All programs are accessible without fees to native and non-native individuals residing in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. This "ghettoized" neighborhood is home to most of the Lower Mainland's most marginalized: substance dependent individuals, the mentally ill, homeless, immigrants, troubled youth and First Nations people.
