Since its inception in 2002, Slurp & Swirl™ continues to be our favourite way to punctuate a long winter season before holiday festivities commence. Held at our award-winning restaurant, this Wine and Oyster Celebration is the perfect blend of food, wine, and fundraising, raising over $200,000 in net proceeds over the last seven years for the British Columbia Professional Firefighters Association and the Burn Fund of BC.
Over 300 guests attended the sold out event in 2009, which featured a stunning collection of auction items, complementary fresh-shucked oysters, canapés and a varied selection of premium wine and champagne from around the world. Guests bid competitively in the live and silent auctions ensuring a staggering amount of items surpassed their estimated value.
This year marks Joe Fortes’ 25 Year Anniversary, and what better way to celebrate this milestone than with the 8th Annual Slurp & Swirl™, in benefit of the Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society. This black tie gala will feature yearly favourites (fresh shucked oysters, gourmet canapés, champagne and wine tasting stations), complete with a ‘Balloon Auction’ (where the purchase of your balloon guarantees you an item of equal or greater value), a silent auction, a live auction showcasing art by local Vancouver artists, and several live performances.
